Re: Google Pano
By the way, here's something similar, a 3D .pdf: http://www.erikleeman.com/3D_PDF/pot_150k.pdf Note that it only works using the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader for desktop computers, not on iPads! Also please be patient if you want to have a look, it's 9,45 MB in size. Not quite finished or perfect, bu...

Re: Google Pano
That's a (synthetic) 3D model, displayed interactively using WebGL. There is mention of a "Katamari 3D Viewer" in the source code. * Copyright 2011 Google Inc. All Rights Reserved. * Author: kuffner@google.com (James Kuffner) * Prototype 3D viewer for the Android Galaxy Nexus launch page (...

And finally we have inertia, and it works fantastic YEEHAW!
Interaction with the object is soooo much better than it was before, MUCH more convincing.
Thanks Thomas!

Re: How transforming Pano2VR in STD .mov
Here's a (very simple) example of what you can do with your pano's using Adobe AfterEffects and Carl Larsen's tutorial on Creative Cow: http://www.flickr.com/photos/erik-nl/6155802334/ The version shown on Flickr was transcoded by Yahoo, and sadly turned into utter crap. Therefore please download th...

Re: Image quality issues.
Don't worry, the differences are quite obvious! You could try a different Interpolation Filter in Pano2VR by changing it in the Application Settings menu. The Mammoth Rock on the right looks oversharpened to me, but if that's what you like you could use Lanczos 2 or 3. What Interpolation Filter are ...

Re: How transforming Pano2VR in STD .mov
Not with Adobe's Première Pro, but with Adobe's AfterEffects you can do all that you could possibly want to do with your panos and video. Here's a link to the first part of a series of four tutorials on how to do it: http://library.creativecow.net/articles/larsen_carl/cube_world1.php And if you alre...

Re: Colour Management
Sorry Keith, "The BEST, most professional solution is to work in Adobe RGB (1998) or better and *convert* the final output to sRGB at the last possible moment" ahem, aren't you 'oversimplifying' things a bit here? Please allow me to propose a bit of nuance: - For the best possible image qu...

Re: Simultaniously played masked panoramas
Sorry guys, but there's no way I can effectively explain in a few words what i did to build these demos to non-programmers. And those with sufficient programming skills won't need my help, they'll just do it themselves, it's no rocket science. So if you want to make something similar you'll need a f...

P2VR WebKit panos and iPad iOS 4.3
Just updated my iPad, and hurried to try some panos in GoodReader.
....Nope, no improvement as far as I can see.
What a shame.

Re: Pano2VR v3 b4
Hi Martin, I know, even so I had my fingers crossed, hoping Thomas would find a 'smart and cunning' workaround for it. I still think my iPad is a brilliant device for what it is, but it's a terrible shame Apple first designed it so that in spite of the iPad's wonderful screen the image quality of ou...

Re: Pano2VR v3 b4
Just did a quick test, looks like P2VR 3 beta 4 didn't solve the iPad iOS 4.2.1 skin problem.

The original question was already answered Dave, simply flattening the equirect usually removes the black seam.

Re: Visible Vertical Line
It's not an exposure 'thing' as such, it's an optical issue. With the aperture wide open (the largest aperture opening = the smallest F-stop number) you'll see all optical flaws of a lens in their full glory in your images. Close that aperture to its smallest size of a particular lens (= the largest...

Re: crash with iOS v4.2 and iPad
Same here. I updated my iPad yesterday, and was horrified by the effect it had on my panos. Goodreader (using Mobile Safari ?) appears to have no problems with the panos themselves, but it seems skin elements ruin the experience. I didn't have time yet to look into it any further, but there most cer...
