audio narration

Postby ehunt » Wed Jul 28, 2010 4:47 am

I've added a static audio to play a narration when the viewer enters the panorama. Problem is that when the viewer moves to another panorama then comes back the audio does not play on the next visit. The entire tour must be exited then re-entered before the audio will play again. I've also noticed that if the viewer moves to another panorama while the audio is playing the audio continues to play to the end. Is there a better way to create a narrative sound track that plays once each time the viewer enters the panorama and will stop if the viewer moves to another panorama on the tour?

This happens because you've set Loop to "1", so it'll only play one time even when you come back to the pano.
You might find it easiest to deal with multiple sounds and panos by using a controller (play/stop buttons). You can give all narration tracks the same ID ... something like "Narration". Add this ID to the Target of your button actions. This way when you go to to the next panorama, the previous narration will stop playing and the user must hit "Play" to play the current narration.

Or...someone else may have a smarter way to do this so you can have the same function but the narration plays on load.

I built this for one of my customers.

The best way is to add the sound in the sound editor in each individual panorama. Set the loop for 1, every time you leave and entre the sound plays.
The speaker button stops and plays, so restarting the audio if required.

Thanks for the replies. The problem was using "Static" mode, I changed this to "Effect Circular" and it's working the way I had expected.

Hopki,

You rock! That's MUCH smarter. But using the effect circular also works ;) - glad you got it working.

Hi there
I know this is totally my personal preference which does not apply to others, but would be nicer to have the sound on Lyneal with Pause option, rather than have it restart every time you unMute it. I loaded your page, then my YouTube video start playing so I Stop it, went to YT to pause the video and came back to check the panorama. Pressed the sound button and came to realize that I need to listen to narration all over again. I thought it was quite annoying.

Also, while I was browsing, I noticed quite many visible stitching errors and Chromatic Aberrations (especially windows). All of which seem like could be easily fixed in Photoshop. I have no intention to run your work down, I have seen quite many of the links you were posting here in the past, you sure can produce very decent panos, but someone else might be using it to point it out as your "incompetence", and perhaps secure business for himself in the future, instead of you. I would fix the errors before the client realize it or someone else point it out. Just a friendly suggestions from a fellow panoramic.

best regards

Sebastian

HI Sebastian
Thank you for your input, however, I built the skin and edited the audio, basically my customer makes the panoramas, sends me the equirectangular photo and then I put it together and make it all work as required, so not my pictures or stitching I am afraid.

99% of my work is for other panoramic and object photographers, I build skins and like to think I know my way around Pano2VR to produce something half decent.

Yes you can have a pause / play and a stop / start, what ever people want. The object of showing this was to demonstrate the sound playing after load and replaying when you revisit the panorama. 8)

All the best
