Smooth, thanks for the great reply, helped a lot. I haven't tried it on an iPad yet but it did fallback to the swf first [I think that's an oxymoron] and opened the Flash pano in Safari on my Mac with the skin I chose.
I didn't have the following:
7.) skin.js
8.) modernizr-1.5.min.js
And I didn't try multi-resolutions yet.
Thanks again.
Got Pano, Now What?

Thanks for the reply. I have upgraded to Version 3 and can now output with HTML5. I have downloaded and tried version 3. The output files from this pano are 1. (Pano2vr player.js) 2. ( Skin.js) 3. ( Untitled-1 out.xml) plus the image file. This was done using the HTML5 option. What do you do with these files to be able to view the result on my computer and then on the iphone and ipad. At a total loss. There was no swf file produced even though I filled in the field.smooth wrote:Quicktime VR has been left behind pretty much.
Flash is the most popular standard these days and what you should be aiming at producing.
HTML5 (Safari) tours will play on any device that uses the Safari browser I.E: Computer, iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad.
All these can be produced with Pano2VR by adding the option via "Output" You should view and understand all video tutorials available.

You must have a .html file and it is this file you open with Safari to view the HTML5 panorama.
Upload the files to your web server and type the absolute URL address into your iDevice browser to view.
You should create the .swf Flash panorama first before adding the name/path to the fallback option in the HTML publish section of the "normal.ggt" as shown in a previous post.David Silva wrote:There was no swf file produced even though I filled in the field.

Hey, This thread is helping me a lot, sorry for jumping in here. I am also trying to convert panos to html5 for the first time. I have followed your steps here and am able to get the panos to work on my iPod touch. However it keeps crashing on an iPad. I did my "fallback Flash" pano which works fine on my desktop/laptop etc. My question is what should I use in the "Settings" tab for the html5 output. Keeping in mind I am already using a 2000px face for my "Fallback Flash" pano. I don't really need another 2000px face pano here in the html5 do I? In the "Mobile" tab I am using 3 versions, a 1024px max with 900px tile; a 960px max with 700px tile; and 480px max with 400 px tile.

G'day Ron,
You will require separate full size cube faces for the HTML5 on Safari (without Flash installed) on a computer.
This is done in the "Settings" (tab) This is totally separate to the Flash .swf build.
Then you need only set up the "Mobile" tiles for the iDevices. This is done in the "Mobile" (Tab).
iPad = Resolution 1025px and tile size 1024px
iPhone 4 = Resolution 801px and tile size 800px or is that Resolution 961 and 960 tiles? Don't have an iPhone 4 to test.
iPhone/iPod Touch = Resolution 641px and tile size 640px
What this means, say taking the (iPad = Resolution 1025px and tile size 1024px) example. Any screen with a resolution under 1025px will be delivered the 1024px cube face.
So long as the screen resolution is higher than the next lower resolution settings. In this case the (iPhone 4 = Resolution 801px and tile size 800px).
Then any screen resolution below 1025px but higher than 801px will be delivered the 1024px tile. Anything above 1025px screen resolution will get the full size cube face from the "Settings" (tab) tile size.
This will ensure you get the correct tiles for the viewing screen resolution.

I would suggest this is why your iPad is crashing.ronrack wrote: In the "Mobile" tab I am using 3 versions, a 1024px max with 900px tile; a 960px max with 700px tile; and 480px max with 400 px tile.
The 1024px with 960px tiles is not what is being delivered to the iPad.
It would be getting the 2000px tiles. Changing to 1025px with 960px tiles would make the 960px tiles load.
2000px tile is too much for the iPad.

Smooth,
Thanks you, thank you, for your help here. I understand better now. I changed everything as you have said. Unfortunately, I am still getting crashes on the iPad. It works fine on my iTouch though. Sadly, I do not have an iPad to test myself so I have to ask a couple friends for input and both are reporting crashes after it partially loads, although one friend actually got it to load all the way after 3 attempts and the pano was working. We cleared the cache and tried again resulting in more crashes. Not sure what to do next except steal an iPad somewhere so I can tweak to my hearts content and get faster feedback for myself.
Mobile tab:
1025,1024 for iPad image quality 60
961,960 version for the iPhone4 quality 65
641,640 for iTouch quality 65

Update to the Update,
I was wrong iPad crashes all the time. I tried converting another pano when I thought I had the settings good but that one crashes too. Not sure what to do now!! I have uploaded 2 screenshots showing my settings and html tabs.

Not sure why you have the size set to 480x640 nor why you think FoV Mode: Diagonal should be chosen?
Set this back to 640x480 and Vertical FoV Projection and see if this corrects your issue.
There is another thread where others are complaining about crashing on the iPad but I don't know if this connected. I personally don't have an iPad.

Thanks Smooth for the quick reply, I will try that
I don't know if this will help of not?
But, Easypano programmers have decided to use 955px cubes faces for iPad and 500px cube faces for iPhone.
So that would be:
1025px Resolution = 955px Tile/Cube
961px Resolution = 500px Tile/Cube
Could be worth a try.
As I remember it, all was fine until Apple released iOS 4.02
This is typical of Apple moving the goal posts with each release!

Thanks again Smooth, I did take it over to the other thread and I think I finally got it working. I kept making tiles smaller until I am using 768px tiles for iPad and iPhone both.
Thanks again,
